An estimated 16% of children with autism, around one in six, are expelled from preschool programs, according to new research coming out of the University of California, Riverside.  The study, which focused on reports of expulsion from child-care facilities and preschools by parents of 203 autistic children, found that the average age of children removed from these programs was just 3 years old.  “These little kids were asked to leave school because they demonstrated behaviors directly related to their autism,” UC Riverside School of Education professor and the study’s lead author, Jan Blacher, told UC Riverside News. “So, they were being expelled from preschool for the very problems that they needed school for.”  The study also found that characteristics of autism, like challenges communicating and repetitive behaviors, are sometimes viewed as misconduct, which can make children with autism targets for expulsion.  According to Blacher and her co-author, Abby Eise...

The Orange team’s 10-7 win was the lowest-scoring spring game since the school began to keep records in 1996.The previous low was 13-10 in 2011, offensively challenged Will Muschamp’s first season in Gainesville. An encouraging effort on defense and a vanilla offensive game plan played a role Thursday.Quarterback Jack Miller III said the Gators essentially ran, “Day 1 install.”Whatever the case, the offensive slough did not inspire confidence as coach Billy Napier ended his second spring in Gainesville and pushed to move past a 6-7 2022 season.A reported crowd of 42,000, including 2022 quarterback Anthony Richardson, Super Bowl winner Carlos Dunlap and Mike and Maurkice Pouncey, dwindled as the night went on.Here are 3 things learned:1.
