40 firefighters respond to grass fire in SF's Crocker-Amazon neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Crews are working to extinguish a grass fire Saturday afternoon in the Crocker-Amazon neighborhood, the San Francisco Fire Department announced on Twitter. Forty firefighters are at the scene near Geneva Avenue and Moscow Street. As of 5:30 p.m., SFFD said no structures are threatened, and there were no injuries. The fire is currently contained at five acres.You can view Citizen App video of the scene (above). SFFD says the public should avoid the area at this time.The fire was reported to be a one-alarm wildland fire, according to SFFD. Metro riders on the Green Line to northern Prince George’s County, Maryland, will experience some station closures through the end of summer.The transit agency announced that its West Hyattsville, Hyattsville Crossing, College Park-U of Md. and Greenbelt stations will be closed for major construction from July 22 to Sept. 4.Metro said these four stations will be closed for the installation of fiber optic cables to enhance rail system technology.“Once installed, the fiber-optic cables will allow Metro to get more updates done during non-customer hours, which means less downtime in the future,” the transit agency said.Metro advises riders to plan for additional time for their commute. Riders taking the Green Line to Fort Totten on July 22 and 23 will still be able to reach the station via the Red Line. Four teenagers were arrested and two others are wanted in a robbery inside a Woodbridge, Virginia, high school restroom that occurred over three weeks ago, police said.A 15-year-old boy was confronted and robbed in a restroom at Freedom High School in Woodbridge on June 14. The boy was struck and received minor injuries in what police called a strong-arm robbery.On that same day, a school resource officer quickly detained three of the suspects: two 15-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy.The following day, charges were obtained for the three more suspects. DENVER (KDVR) -- The Denver Police Department said two people were arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of a motorcyclist on Interstate 70 near Colorado Boulevard on July 4. Cesar Ramirez-Rivera, 21, and Nelson Miranda-Rivas, 25, are being held for investigation of first-degree murder, DPD said. Motorcyclist killed in crash in Montbello neighborhood The shooting happened around 1 a.m. and was initially reported as a crash. When police began the investigation, it was determined the motorcyclist had been shot. He later died at the hospital.
